Most Common Questions

  1. I just bought the software and I haven't received the authorization code yet.
  2. How do I install the software?
  3. I'm on Windows Vista/Windows 7 and I get an error message that says "Unable to write the Zaxwerks security file. You must be logged in as an Admin and have your User Account Controls (UAC) turned off to enter the authorization code".
  4. When I open the ProAnimator plug-in the program freezes or the windows flicker.
  5. Missing Maps. I get an error message asking me to locate image files.
  6. When the rendering finishes I see an error saying it couldn't copy the QuickTime movie.

Installation

Crashes and Freezes

User Interface Questions

  1. The SetUp window is cut off or a window is missing.

Modeling Questions

  1. Can I do lathe modeling (also called pottery wheel or "revolve" type modeling)?
  2. I have an object that is showing weird artifacts.

Vector Artwork Questions

  1. What is Vector artwork?
  2. The lines in my Illustrator files are not turning into 3D models.

  5. How can I edit an Illustrator file and get the software to use the changes?

Imported 3D Object Questions

  1. Which 3D file formats does your software support?
  2. The objects won't open.
  3. I see bad shading on imported objects.
  4. I can't color or move individual parts of the model.
  5. I can't apply texture maps to the Imported models.
  6. When I import a 3D model into the software, everything looks fine until I look at it in full res. Then it looks like the front faces of the object are missing and only the back faces are being rendered?

Rendering Questions

  1. When the rendering finishes I see an error saying it couldn't copy the QuickTime movie.
  2. What is the largest size that can be used for a Texture Map?
  3. I can't get motion blur working in my After Effects project.
  4. Swatches and materials take 20 minutes to load, and rendering takes hours.
  5. How do I get rid of the background? Getting an Alpha channel.
  6. During rendering I get a *6 error.
  7. After rendering in After Effects CS4 using the ProRes 4444 format, I import the movie into CS5 and it doesn't see the alpha channel.

3D Reflector Questions

  1. My reflection is offset / slanted / not where it should be.
  2. Every time I click the Update button, After Effects crashes.
  3. Why do my reflections look different/weird in the preview and when using the OpenGL renderer?

  5. How can I blur the Reflections?

3D Layer Tools Questions

  1. The Apply button is dimmed.
  2. I don't see Layer Tools in the Effects menu.

Motion Plug-ins

  1. When I save my Motion project, my ProAnimator scene is not being saved.
  2. How do I un-install Motion plug-ins?
  3. After installing Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 I can't get my Flag or Stackwerks plug-ins to work inside of Motion, and FCP crashes when I launch it.
